Utilities connected to the property also require consideration during a house lift. Electrical services, plumbing, gas lines, HVAC connections, sewer lines, water services, and other connections may need to be disconnected, extended, or modified to accommodate the change in elevation.
Once the structure has been raised and stabilized, the required construction can proceed beneath it. This may include a new concrete foundation, foundation wall reconstruction, crawlspace construction, basement construction, or other structural modifications. The completed foundation must be properly aligned and prepared to receive the structure when the lifting operation is reversed.
House lifting is particularly suited to projects where replacing or modifying the existing foundation would otherwise require extensive demolition or relocation of the building. It allows the structure to remain intact while providing access to areas that would normally be inaccessible beneath the house.
